Wow! Where has the time gone? We just has our meeting with our social worker to complete our 6 month post placement report...I can not believe that in a couple of weeks that we will have had Lily for 6 months!
These past few months have been busy to say the least. Getting ready for school, summer activities, Jackson's therapy, and daily life with 5 children ages 6 and under...Well, let's just say at the end of the day I am exhausted!
Mike took Liliana to see the specialists in Cincinnati at the Children's Hopsital there for an evaluation while I stayed home with the other 4 children and took care of the myriad of other duties at home. I am jealous that they got to eat at Skyline Chili and sleep in Sleep Number Beds, but they also spent 3 days at the hospital getting tests done and a lot of medical "stuff" happening.

We had been working with the team there since we received the referral information for Lily and have communicated through e-mail, phone and the US Postal Service to prepare ourselves and our family for what challenges we might face due to Lily's medical condition. We did our research prior to the adoption and discovered that Cincinnati has the best team of doctors in the country for Lily's special need. We have been pleased with them and the care that we have received from day one.
Well, it turns out that her condition was fully corrected in China (the doctor that headed up the team in Cincinnati gave the surgeon in China an A- for his work! LOL) There will be no further surgery or follow up procedures necessary. We were prepared for a complicated future, but have been BEYOND blessed by this news. Everything is where it should be and how it should be and working properly! Liliana is just fine! How wonderful is that?!
We have adjusted to being a family of 7 rather quickly. Megan had the hardest time in the beginning but has now started to enjoy the benefits of having a sister. Jackson took to Lily right away and the two of them have formed a very, very special bond. Owen loves that he has a sibling that is also Chinese and we know that as they grow older a shared heritage and history will continue to be important to both of them. Adam and Lily are working on sharing and playing nicely. It will happen- but I hope it happens before they are 18 and away at college! Sigh.
I had waited such a long time to be the mommy of a little girl from China. Each one of my children is special to me and have been very much wanted and loved even before we knew them. They were sought out and deliberately chosen and worked incredibly hard for. But those of you who have been a part of my life since before Mike and I even met, know that my true desire to build a family through adoption stated as a dream for a little girl from China. Lily's arrival into our home is really beyond explanation for so many reasons and on so many levels. Our journey to complete our family has been exciting and unexpected and simply amazing (even with all of the twists and turns and bumps in the road it has taken over the past six years.)
So, there you have it. I will work on getting updates posted a little more frequently.
